Belonging to what is felt rather than reasoned. Of the layer a body answers on before the mind speaks.
Latin exmovere/emovere, ex- (out) plus movere (to move); the adjective for the layer that answers before reasoning does.
Its root is motion itself, the same root behind motive and moving: to be emotional is to be stirred into movement before any argument has had time to form. The body answers first because, at root, that is all the word ever claimed it could do.
